Expected Value of Pens Season

With Tanger going down and Sid maybe getting better, I've nailed down three scenarios:

1) Sid and Tanger come back, great chance of winning the cup (5%).

2) Tanger or Sid comes back, good chance of winning the cup (20%).

3) Neither are back, solid chance of making conference finals (75%).

Let's attach levels of producing happiness to these outcomes. From 1-10 where 10 is an awesome cup winning experience where Sid spinoramas to Geno for the one-timer to win in OT game 7.

1) 9

2) 7

3) 4

Expected Value: 9(.05) + 7(.2) + 4(.75) = 4.85 oof.

Maybe I'm a snob, but I just want to see my dudes crushing out there. Even if it's just Sid or Tanger out there and we get to the cup, I'd be sad that I wasn't watching all the awesome dudes getting after it out there.

Alright, hopefully this is the end of the pessimist posts for this stuff. Next 2 weeks will be big for the team.

PMART - THE COMING

Man somehow survived the double earthquakes today and caught some of the pens game. Really great to see the pens put out a dominating performance, you guys. DJ is a personal fav, great to see him back, and of course free candy.

Listen man, I was super pumped about adding Paul Martin a year ago. This guy, with Coach Z, were gonna introduce a golden age of Pens D. Obvi, last year got pretty rough with the offense going to the guillotine. But the D was still spectacular. A lot of this was focused on Brooks, Z and Tanger who shut it down. P-Mart, even though strong, was supposed to flourish under Danny Balls' high tempo game where his puck handling skills, ever present in American defensemen, would explode into a puck handling fiesta. This didn't happen too much as the most he touched the puck was sometimes working the point on the PP.

Tonight this dude was awesome. He was pinching and flying through the habs zone. He must've had 5 incredible keeps on the blue line. Z struggled and took some penalties, so P-Mart had to re-up on the PK, but played high energy the whole game. I was super impressed, and hope that the incredible P Mart will show up on a regular basis.

Man. Go Pens.

J Cole - Cole's World

Well, after all the years and years of hype... It's really good. I was pretty skeptical, but man he mixed it up with some different stuff, but still focused on the mellow, relaxed beats that really go well with his voice and rhyme style. Highly recommended.

I Am the Goddamn Coolest

So I got to see the ATCQ documentary finally last night. It opened in SF last weekend, but didn't make it out for one reason or another until last night. It was pretty good, definitely worth seeing if you like tribe, native tongues, or any of that biz. Michael Rapaport does a sweet job in the interviews I think... and pretty much captures live the meltdown of Phife and Q-Tip's relationship. I had no idea Phife's health was such a huge part of it, but you don't come away blaming either (they both are super stubborn dudes), just feeling bad for Ali. It was about 65% about their relationship as a group and 35% about how the music was made and developed. I would of liked a little more about the music, but that's ok, the relationship is probably more interesting for most people.

Some really great surprises:

• Learning about Jarobi's role with the group. He's a good guy.
• Pharrell's interviews were really passionate, I always really liked him and this makes him cooler.
• Madlib does the soundtrack! Dropped some shades of blue in there with the ATCQ mixing.
• J Dilla got a bunch of shoutouts somehow.
• De La Soul was super cool.
• Mos Def made some appearances.
• The title screen intro was really great.

Looks like they cut out a bunch of interviews that might have been cool: Ludacris, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Hieroglyphics. They also give a bunch of hype for Q-Tip's 2nd solo album, which sounds pretty much like his first album that wasn't that great.

Mary's Slippers

When Mary leaves town, I wear her slippers a lot. It's like someone turned two pomeranian puppies into stylish slippers. They are also way too small.

Shitstorm of Awful

Out of body experience right now where I am watching myself with a bowl of popcorn and laughing.

Here's what I envision: Pens, Flyers in playoffs. Jagr gets on ice for first shift, then sits on bench after the change. He glances up at the scoreboard and somehow locks eyes with #66. All of a sudden he can't look away. His heart is racing. He clutches it, and can feel it straining. The trainer tries to get his attention. It's no use. He collapses in a spasm.

Good God what just happened.

New Album Fallout

Kid Cudi 2 came out a while ago, but is anyone else feeling pretty bummed that both that album and Lupe's new stuff are not very good?

This sucks wtf.

House of Air

Made it out to the house of air last night! Got to fill in for KB's dodgeball squad. The dodgeball was ok. There was rampant, rampant cheating as the ref couldn't see too much. Not sure what man can be obviously hit 3 times and pretend not to notice.

The sweet thing was the big trampoline zone where you could bounce forever doing sweet stuff. Thought I would be immediately pulling double corks, but that proved to be impossible. The jump challenge, where you only get 1 jump per section, was really hard. I made it up to 4.5 or something before I teetered out.

Flight on Simpsons

Did you guys know about this? I'm about to watch. Yes, the office is empty.
